I take back what I said about Leeds yesterday, today looks pretty cool. Feeder and The Music are on BBC3’s highlights. I like The Music. I don’t take back anything that I said about The Enemy. The Music only serve to show how crap they are. And Feeder are quite cool, I saw them live a couple of years with the tour for their third album (the one that didn’t really sell but had that top song ‘Godzilla’). Real music today. They weren’t amazing live, but no one can deny they’ve got some tunes.

In other news, Johnny Marr has confirmed that he has joined The Cribs. Loud. He really does need the money.

I have had a TV day today. Firstly, I watched ‘The Perfect Vagina’ on Channel 4 catch up. Now I’m watching Reading and Leeds 2008 with Edith and Zane. First up, The Enemy. This defines the Leeds festival. Great when you’re 14. Four skinny boys from ghastly Coventry ‘singing’ not that different from something Abba might do with its limited lyrics and pretending to be hard. I wouldn’t be scared of them if I met them in a train station at night. And I’m 5ft2. How old are they? The lead looks like a rabbit. Oh, Britain. How did they become famous? Is there nothing better out there? Why do people like them? Whose life is this empty? I saw them on soccer am once, they said the sole reason they started a band was so they could be famous and appear on that show. Another band now, not sure their name, but what does it matter, they’re all the same. Some catchy tunes, like Abba. The NME stage, how dreadful. At some point I think the NME used to be a respected publication. The last time I saw a copy they were triumphing that The Twang. I’m not sure how its possible to be so out of touch. Or maybe they’re just in touch with the wrong people. It has filled the whole in the market that Smash Hits left. Indie music for stupid people. This band is called ‘One Night Only’. Not that fit at all. Wearing make up. The Wombats now, lol. I caught them at wireless festival, they were playing the stage where all the hot dog stands are. Nobody liked them, it was the day when Beck, Siouxie, New York Dolls, The National and Morrissey were there. Classy clientele. There’s nothing wrong with catchy music, I love catchy music, it has its place. But this lot compare themselves to The Smiths. That’s whats wrong. Qotsa are good. Not got anything against them, they serve to highlight the difference between good and these other bands. But weren’t these songs famous ages ago? No.one.knows. Ah, Babyshambles. Everybody loves a bit of Pete Doherty. Even as a drug addict, he’s a bit cute. I wonder if he’s friends with Sascha from Hollyoaks. If he washed, I bet a lot of girls would. I wonder how many women he’s slept with. The most interesting thing is how expensive Leeds is now. The first time we went, in what, 2003? You could get day tickets for 30/40. Now, a weekend, that’s three days, costs about 150. Dizzee, I like him too. A music festival for people who don’t like music.
